Gross Motor Development |

The students will learn and practice to:
- Run with quick changes of directions
- Make small quick movements
- Produce large, slow movements
- Perform even locomotor movements: walk, run hop, jump and leap
- Perform uneven locomotor movements: slice, skip and gallop
- Balance by walking backwards
- Balance by walking on a bench
- Balance by standing on one foot
- Climb confidently up & down high frames/structures
- Throw a ball (over arm) with accuracy
- Catch a large ball using both hands (i.e. not arms)
- Kick a ball forward with accuracy

The children will have their hand preference well established
The children will be able to:
- Draw and paint representational pictures with detail
- Hold a pencil, brush, crayon with "adult" grasp
- Trace complex patterns and shapes
- Pour liquid from a jug to a cup
- Thread small beads quickly and easily
- Create detailed sculptures with play dough
- Use materials appropriately and independently without supervision: glue, scissors, pencils, markers, etc.
- Draw and color within the lines
- Cut out different shapes along the lines
